I’m proud to be appearing in The Dark for a second straight issue. My story “Birds of Lancaster, Lairamore, Lovejoy” will be published in the February issue. This is a particularly noteworthy publication for me, as the story will be the first the world will see that is really not horror in any way. Its intent lies elsewhere. “Bookends” came close to being non-horror, but readers responded to its very dark tone, so I felt that in the end it wore a bit of a creepy-crawly label.

At any rate, look for “Birds” very soon. And yes, there is a touch of darkness to it. It didn’t choose its home for no good reason.
