Shadows & Tall Trees now available

My story “Onanon” has a wonderful home in the new edition of Shadows & Tall Trees. This is one of my favorite sources of dark fiction, and editor Mike Kelly has received too many accolades for S&TT for me to list here. So far the new issue (now a yearly anthology) seems to be doing very well indeed.

It is both exciting and intimidating to be published next to the great Robert Shearman–the last page of “Onanon” rubs up against the first page of his wonderful “It Flows From the Mouth.” Kaaron Warren, Ray Cluley…suffice it to say, it’s an honor to see so many great names, and all 16 of the stories that share space with mine are excellent. The breadth of tones throughout this book is so well done.

Available in a beautiful paperback or e-book through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Undertow Publications’ website. This is a good one, friends.

  1. This issue was absolutely amazing, and your story was among my favorites. Great stuff. I can’t wait to check out the tale you sold to Cemetery Dance.

    1. Thanks so much, Cory! Very glad you enjoyed it. The Cemetery Dance issue I’m in is still a few months away, sadly. It will have what’s probably my favorite story of mine.

  2. Dear Mr. Wehunt,

This volume of Shadows and Tall Trees is a collection of some of the best short fiction I’ve ever read. However, your story, Onanon, was truly unique. Every sentence drips like poetry. Your story has become a very significant influence for me, and the way I pursue my own writing. You set a monumentally high bar, in my opinion, for the rest of the collection, and I thank you for sharing your art with us.

I look forward to the rest of your work.

    Sincerely,

    Josh P

    1. That is awesome of you, Josh. Thank you for those kind words! You might be happy to know that “Onanon” will appear in my debut collection, Greener Pastures, which is out next month. Best of luck with your own writing!
